Spring Is Approaching Fast: How To Stop Your Pets From Attracting Those Warm Weather Pests

Spring will be here before you know it. That means you'll soon be enjoying the warm weather; it also means that the pests will start heading for your home. If you've got pets, you might be seeing more pests than you'd like. That's because your family pets may actually be inviting them in. You might not realize this, but your furry friends can attract unpleasant pests. Unfortunately, once those pests are in your home, it can be difficult to get rid of them. Now that the warm weather is almost here, you'll need to take a proactive approach to stop your pet from attracting those pests. Here are four simple steps you can take to keep those pests as far away from your home as possible.

Keep Your Pets Clean

If you've got pets, you need to keep them clean, especially during the spring and summer. During the warmer months, your pets can carry in quite a few annoying pests. Giving your pets a weekly bath will help keep pests like fleas and even bedbugs out of your home. It's also a good idea to give your pets flea treatments at least once a month during the spring and summer. If your cats don't take kindly to baths, wipe them down with a damp cloth once a day, and treat them for fleas.

Wash Their Bedding

Pests can also be attracted to your pet's bedding, even if you keep the bedding inside the house. Fleas and bedbugs can be carried in on your pets, and then take up housekeeping in the bedding. If you keep your pet's bedding outside, spiders, ants, fleas, and even rodents can nest inside the fibers. You can prevent the pest infestations in your pet's bedding by washing it at least once a week.

Clean Up After Each Meal

If you're in the habit of leaving your pet's food bowls out throughout the day, you might want to change that habit. The food that's left in the bowls can attract a wide variety of pests. Not only that, but so can the crumbs that get left behind. To keep the pests away, clean up the bowls after each meal and sweep the surrounding area. It's also a good idea to spritz the area with water and lemon juice. Cleaning the area and removing the odor will keep the pests away.

Don't Skimp on the Pest Control

When it comes to keeping pests away during the spring and summer, you can't rely entirely on natural remedies, especially when you have pets. To make sure your home is pest-free, don't skimp on the pest control. Contact an exterminator near you and arrange to have pest control services, especially during the warm months of the year. Companies like Bugman Pest Elimination can offer more information.

About Me
Do You Have Insects and Critters in Your Home?

Do you have unwanted varmints in your home? My name’s Jason Blaine. We used to have many unwanted, non-rent paying, living creatures in our home. In the spring and summer, it was mostly insects. Come fall when the weather began to cool off, the larger critters made their way to our attic. We would sit in the house and hear them scurrying around above us. Our cats were the only ones that seemed to like the alien invasions. They got to play with the insects and hunt the rodents. I didn’t find it to be the least bit pleasant. I finally called in a pest control service and am I glad I did! I’m going to share about our pest control maintenance service. I’ve learned a great deal about the chemicals and how they are now safe for humans. I hope to provide you with helpful information.
